Wellbeing

Life doesn't stop at the school gate. We know that for many of our families, the day-to-day brings its own challenges — and that when you're doing well, your children do better too.

This page is for you as much as it is for them. Whether you're looking for a bit of company, some practical support or just want to know what's out there, we hope you'll find something useful here.

What's on at Brierley?

Throughout the year we run a range of free groups and activities for parents and carers, right here in school. Some are ongoing, some come around in blocks — and when something's been popular, we run it again. If anything here appeals, just get in touch and we'll let you know when the next opportunity is.

Story Sacks A creative group where you make your own story sack — a bag filled with handmade characters and props based on a book your child loves. You'll go home with something your family can use together, and you'll have had a good time making it.

Adult Cooking and Wellbeing Group A small group that meets weekly to cook together, share a meal and spend some time in good company. It's about more than the recipes — it's a chance to have a proper break and get to know people. Previous groups have been really well received.

Men Through the Lens A photography group for men, using cameras and Photovoice techniques to explore your own story in a creative and supportive way. Six sessions, each with a different focus.

Behaviour Workshop A practical session sharing the approaches we use at school so you can try them at home too.

Coffee and Chat — every week Drop in for a brew and a catch-up. No agenda, no pressure — just a chance to meet other parents and carers and take a bit of time for yourself. Come every week or just when you can.

Monthly Coffee Mornings Once a month we bring in a guest - this might be someone from our Speech and Language team, our Careers lead, the Family Support team, or a visitor from an outside organisation. Still relaxed and informal, but a chance to find out more and ask questions. Keep an eye on ClassDojo and our newsletter for dates.

To find out more about any of these, or to register your interest, get in touch with the school office and we'll point you in the right direction.

Our family support team

Amanpreet Kaur Christie Walker

Amanpreet and Christie are available Monday to Friday, all year round. They can help with everything from filling in forms to emotional support, referrals to other services, or just a conversation when things feel difficult.  If you'd like to speak to either of them, please don't hesitate to get in touch with the school.

We've also pulled together some useful contacts and organisations below. Whether you need support with your mental health, finances, housing or something else entirely, there's help available and you're never on your own.
