If a child is in immediate danger, call 999 now. Don't wait — always call 999 if you believe someone is at risk of serious harm.
If you're worried about a child — whether that's your own child, a child you know, or something you've seen or heard — please don't wait until you're certain. We'd always rather hear from you.
You don't need proof. You don't need all the answers. Our job is to listen and to act.

Our designated safeguarding lead and deputies are available Monday to Friday, 8am–4pm during term time. Some members of the team are also available during school holidays at reduced capacity.

Who can I talk to?
You can talk to any member of staff at Co-op Academy Brierley. Every member of staff knows what to do and how to help keep everyone safe — it doesn't matter who you go to first.
It could be:
✅ Your class teacher
✅ Someone in the kitchen
✅ Someone in the office
✅ Any teacher
✅ A teaching assistant
✅ Any member of staff
If you are a young person and you'd rather speak to someone outside of school, you can call Childline on 0800 1111 — it's free, available any time, and you don't have to give your name.
Can I tell you online?
Yes — if no one is in immediate danger, you can use our online form to let us know what's happening.
Online messages are sent confidentially to our Designated Safeguarding Lead, who checks these during the school day in term time.
If someone is in immediate danger, please do not use the online form — call 999 or speak to a member of staff straight away.
What happens if I ask for support?
We’re creating a culture where children and young people are confident to ask for help and support when they need it.

I’m an adult worried about a child
If you're worried about your own child, please call us on 0113 323 0073 and ask to speak to a member of the safeguarding team. We're here to help and you won't be causing a problem by getting in touch.
If you're concerned about a child you know but who isn't your own, you can also still contact us using the number above. You can also contact Leeds Children's Social Work Services directly:
