Time for Change: Brierley crowned winners 🏆

On Thursday 2nd July, a group of our learners travelled to the Co-op Head Office in Manchester to present the Time for Change project they had been working on all year. We are incredibly proud to share that, after competing against around 10 other Co-op schools, our learners were crowned overall winners, bringing home the trophy
What the project involved
Time for Change is all about learners identifying something in their local community that matters to them, then taking real action to make a difference. Our learners chose to focus on our partnership with Cross Green Growers, a local organisation supporting the community through farming, gardening and environmental work.
As a new school, building relationships with the community around us mattered a great deal. Over the year, our learners took part in hands on farming and gardening, cared for animals, welcomed community volunteers onto the farm, and got to know people living locally. They also researched the local area, spoke with residents and community groups, and used what they learned to shape the project as it developed.
A well deserved win
Having finished as runners up last year, our learners went back determined to do even better. Presenting in front of judges from across the Trust is no small thing, and their confidence, teamwork and brilliant presentation clearly impressed everyone in the room.
What stood out most was how much the learners themselves had grown through the project. They spoke about the skills they had built along the way - teamwork, leadership, communication and responsibility - and how proud they felt to represent our school and community.
Well done, Team Brierley 🌟🏆
A huge congratulations to every learner who took part. You represented Brierley with real pride, and this is a fantastic achievement. Thank you to everyone who supported the project along the way and helped make this success possible.
