David and his team at the Co-op store on Burley Road have shown incredible support for our families by securing a £200 donation in gift cards for the academy. David successfully applied for a special Co-op community fund specifically to support our Parent Cooking Project, which launched this January.

A True Team Effort
This project is a fantastic example of collaboration. While the gift cards from David ensured we could source fresh ingredients, the project’s success is down to a dedicated team:

• Shelley and Donna (SILC Cluster): We want to say a huge thank you to Shelley and Donna, who are leading this project as part of their efforts to support our families.
• Our Family Support Workers: Our school’s own Family Support team has been essential in organizing and coordinating these sessions.
• Bunzl: We also extend our gratitude to Bunzl for their support in providing the kitchen equipment needed for the project to go ahead.

More Than Just a Meal
This project is about much more than just learning recipes. For many of our families in a specialist school setting, navigating the daily joys and challenges of parenthood can sometimes feel isolating. By providing the funding and equipment, our partners have created a dedicated space for parents to connect, share advice in a relaxed environment and reduce social isolation through meaningful, hands on activity.

A Growing Partnership
David and the Burley Road team expressed how happy they were to have the opportunity to support Co-op Academy Brierley. This donation is a fantastic example of how local businesses and support services can make a tangible difference.
